Drinking water reserves in the seven lakes supplying Mumbai have surged by approximatel 34% within a week following intense monsoon downpours in catchment areas. Total water stocks escalated to 41.36% (5.98 lakh million litres), up from just 7.18% (1.03 lakh million litres) on July 1. The reservoirs registered a sharp 12.44% jump in single day from the 28.92% recorded on July 7, causing the Vihar and Tulsi lakes to overflow.
