Overview

NewsBite ("we", "us") is a news aggregation and discovery platform. We do not produce news content. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using NewsBite, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account Information: When you register or sign in, we collect your email address and authentication credentials for account management and security.
• Usage data: Pages visited, filters applied, app interactions, and general interaction patterns (via standard analytics).
• Device & IDs: Device identifiers and diagnostic information collected for performance and security purposes.
• Local storage: Articles you select for AI summarization or bookmarks are stored locally on your device unless saved to your account.
• AI summarization: When you generate a summary, article titles and descriptions are sent to Google Gemini or OpenAI APIs to produce the summary.
• Server logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and debugging.

What we do not collect

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• We do not collect sensitive health, financial, or precise physical location data.
• We do not claim ownership of news content displayed on the app.

Account & Data Deletion

You have full control over your personal data and account.

• In-App Request: You can delete your account inside the app by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete Account.
• Web / Email Request: If you no longer have access to the app, send an email to newsbiteteam@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from your registered email address.

Upon processing your request, all personal data (including email address, authentication credentials, and saved preferences) will be permanently deleted from our primary databases within 30 days. Non-identifiable aggregated data may be retained for analytics.

Third-party services

NewsBite links to external publisher websites. When you click a headline, you leave NewsBite and are subject to that publisher's privacy policy. We also use third-party AI APIs (Google Gemini, OpenAI) for optional summarization features.

Data retention

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Account data is retained as long as your account remains active or until you request deletion.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Contact us at newsbiteteam@gmail.com for any privacy-related request.

Children

NewsBite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
