The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has partnered with CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute to develop indigenous advanced lightweight bulletproof glass for armoured vehicles. The four-year project aims to reduce weight and thickness by up to 50% and provide multi-shot ballistic protection, with a target of delivering robust protection against AK-47 rifle fire from 100 metres. The technology is expected to enhance vehicular mobility and payload capacity, with the project valued at Rs 50 crore.
