France Proposes Tougher Measures to Hold Rioters, Families Accountable

France's Senate has approved a proposal to make rioters and their families financially liable for damage caused during violent protests, with liability extending to €10,000. The move aims to recover costs of public disorder and address the role of online platforms in organizing protests. The legislation must now pass through the National Assembly, where no political bloc holds a majority, amid concerns from human rights organizations.
