Indian Government Blocks Satish Acharya's Instagram Account for Second Time

Indian government authorities have restricted political cartoonist Satish Acharya's Instagram account for the second time in three weeks, citing legal requirements under India's Information Technology Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules. The move comes amid concerns about widespread use of blocking orders by authorities in India, with nearly 1 lakh orders issued to Instagram alone between March and July. Acharya's account was previously restricted in September 2026.
