UN Report Warns of Devastating Climate Consequences Without Urgent Action

A new UN report warns that global temperatures will likely exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels unless drastic cuts in greenhouse emissions are made. The report, released ahead of COP31, finds that current policies will only limit warming to 2.6°C, while an aggressive global push is needed to limit it to 1.7-1.8°C. The report calls for a 69% reduction in emissions by 2040 to avoid catastrophic climate impacts.
