Rahul Gandhi opposes selling IDBI Bank to Canadian firm Fairfax

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has opposed the government’s plan to sell a 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank to Canadian firm Fairfax Financial for around ₹53,000 crore. In a letter to bank employees, Gandhi questioned why a profitable public bank was being privatised and expressed support for their demands. Meanwhile, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management defended the transaction, stating that the bidding followed set procedures based on independent bank valuations.
