Madras High Court Appoints New Board To Manage Chidambaram Temple
The Madras High Court has appointed a Board of Management led by two retired judges to take over the administration of the Chidambaram Sabanayagar Temple in Tamil Nadu. The court ruled that the hereditary priests, the Podhu Dikshidars, maladministered the temple since 2014 by damaging ancient structures with unauthorized constructions and failing to submit true accounts of income. The new board will remove illegal structures, recover encroached properties, maintain financial records, and ensure fair access to all devotees.
